In 2009 we were pleased to recognize the considerable achievements and accomplishments of The Bragg Group of Companies – National Winners of the Family Enterprise of the Year 
 

In 2010 the the awards will be presented during the CAFE 2010 Symsposium to be hels in Regina on May 26 - 28th

Finalists will be selected from winners from the 14 chapters across Canada 

 ELIGIBILITY 

In order to be eligible for the award, the following conditions must apply:   

 

þ      Applicant must be a “family owned business” rather than an “individual”.  A family owned business is defined as a business organization that has one of the following characteristics:  
 

a)    Has been owned and operated by different generations of a family.

b)    Where the potential exists for ownership to be passed on to a younger generation.   

c)     More than one family member has active employment in an organization owned by a family.   

d)    A family holding company, which has in the past or is presently operating a business.  
 

þ      The company or organization must be a Canadian company.  
 

þ      May be a family owned, private company, or a public company controlled by an individual or family.
 

þ      The company can operate internationally, but the head office must be in .

At a luncheon held at the Rosewater Supper Club in Toronto on Thursday May 28th the Bragg Group of Companies was awarded the Family Enterprise of the Year Award by the Canadian Association of Family Enterprise. The awards, sponsored by KPMG Enterprise and RBC Royal Bank are given in recognition of significant achievement within a Family Enterprise.

The lunch featured the Family Stories of the Bragg Group together with finalists Pizza Nova (GTA Chapter) and Jarlette Health Services (Georgian Bay Chapter). Each were winners within their own chapters of the Canadian Association of Family Enterprise. The winners from accross Canada were celebrated at the event which also featured an inspirational message of achievement through hard work and Family Support from two time Olympic Gold medallist Cheryl Pounder.

The Bragg Group of Companies grew through seven family generations from the local lumber yard to a Multinational corporation whose portfolio demonstrates diversity with the core strengths of developing personnel and community involvement. "In a small town - population 1000 - probably every member of the community has worked for the Bragg Group at some point in their life. Many went on to make working for the family their career" said Matthew Bragg speaking on behalf of the family.
