Learning the Language of Results

Doug Bolger - Chief L(earn)ing Officer of L(earn)2

Communication fuels sales results and strengthens teams. Communication creates possibilities. Without communication, relationships and results wither. Poor communication causes lost business, lack of innovation, declining results, and poor morale.

The challenge with communication is - everyone communicates differently. Customers want us to communicate their way. Employees want us to communicate their way.

read on...What if you did learn to communicate their way? Customers would know you hear them and view their challenges the same way they do. Employees would know you care and would take actions to produce results. Your communication would drive both growth and business results. Learn to identify the languages of others and quickly be able to identify which language to speak.

Some of us perform best when the language used to communicate is specific and detailed. We are the kind of people who take notes, write lists and become frustrated when others show up late (secretly wishing there were consequences for their lateness or inaction). We dig into tasks and prefer to work outside the spotlight because we know our actions speak louder than words. We speak the language of who, what, when, and how. Learn to speak our language and we will make your life easier.

Some of us speak the language of community, inclusion, and engage to connect with others. We dare to get to know the person behind the conversation and appreciate the insight we gain into other people's worlds and situations. Often we uncover the impediment to a sale with customers when others cannot. We speak the language of connection and understanding. Learn to speak our language and we will make sure you succeed and give you a heads-up on what is jamming your progress.

Some of us speak the language of efficiency. We use the minimum number of words to clearly explain things. We dislike having our time wasted by repetition and unnecessary detail. We understand situations quickly and determine the most efficient way to produce the result. Often we are dismayed by others' inability to see the best way forward. Our perspective allows us to see innovations and short-cuts everywhere. We speak the language of why, implications and the big picture of connections. Learn to speak our language and we will solve any problem you have.

Some of us speak the language of results and skills. We want big challenges and goals or we get bored. We often leave things to the last minute just to see if we can still pull off the result. We can do pretty much anything and certainly do many things at the same time. We speak the language of action and energy. Learn to speak our language and we will make the impossible possible.

At this year's Symposium, participants will learn how and when to communicate in these four distinct languages and practice producing results with others. Learning the languages means conversations happen faster. You achieve more and know how to produce results with anyone you work with or meet. Grow your business, yourself and your team - come to Saskatchewan and learn with us.
